Perched on the edge of the Alfama district, this terraced viewpoint is among the most photographed in Lisbon, framed by a pergola draped in bougainvillea and decorated with blue-and-white azulejo panels depicting the pre-earthquake city and the Christian reconquest. From its railings the view falls over a jumble of terracotta rooftops toward the river and the domes of São Vicente de Fora. A small ornamental garden with a lily pond sits alongside, a quiet pause on the climb up to the castle above.
