The Transparent Factory is a car manufacturing plant on the edge of the Grosser Garten in Dresden, distinguished by its walls of glass that reveal the assembly process to passers-by. Opened in 2001, it was conceived by Volkswagen as a showcase where luxury vehicles were built in an unusually clean, quiet, and visible setting, with wooden floors and deliveries brought in by a dedicated freight tram. Over the years its production shifted toward electric mobility, and guided tours let visitors observe assembly at close range.
