This red-brick landmark on Cardiff's waterfront was built in 1897 as the headquarters of the Bute Docks Company during the height of the coal-exporting trade. Designed in a French Gothic Renaissance style with a prominent clock tower, its terracotta detailing and ornate chimneys stand out among the modern buildings of Cardiff Bay. Once a hub of the port's administration, it now serves as a visitor and interpretation centre linked to the Welsh Parliament nearby. The clock is affectionately nicknamed the Baby Big Ben.
