Dar Bouazza

Dar Bouazza is a fast-growing coastal town just south-west of Casablanca that has become the surf outlet for Morocco's largest city. Its beaches and reefs offer accessible waves within easy reach of a major urban centre, making it a convenient base on the central Atlantic coast.

The waves are a mix of reef and beach breaks scattered along the shore, including well-known spots that produce both lefts and rights over rock and sand. Conditions range from gentle beach peaks suited to beginners and surf schools to punchier reef waves that satisfy intermediate and experienced surfers when the swell is up. The variety and proximity to the city make it a practical place to surf without a long journey.

Autumn through spring brings the most consistent Atlantic groundswell to this coast, with winter delivering the biggest and cleanest surf under generally mild conditions. Water temperatures are comfortable enough for a light wetsuit for much of the year.

The town is a modern coastal suburb, with beach clubs, cafes, guesthouses and surf schools, and a lively, family-oriented feel at weekends when Casablancans come to the shore. The city's airport and amenities are close by, road access is easy and the beaches are simple to reach, which makes Dar Bouazza a handy, less remote alternative to the famous surf villages further south.
