The Jim Thompson House is a complex of six traditional Thai teak houses assembled along a canal in Bangkok's Banglamphu district by the American businessman and art collector James Thompson, who revived the Thai silk industry after World War II and disappeared mysteriously in Malaysia in 1967. The interiors house Thompson's collection of Asian antiques, porcelain, sculpture, and paintings in their original arrangements. The surrounding garden and the contrast of traditional wooden architecture against the urban neighbourhood make it a distinctive stop. It is maintained as a museum and cultural foundation.
