Basel

Basel is Switzerland's third-largest city, situated on the Rhine at the point where Switzerland, Germany, and France meet. The red sandstone Münster cathedral on the riverside bluff is the dominant landmark, and the adjacent terrace above the Rhine provides a framed view across the river to Germany. Basel is internationally known for Art Basel, the annual contemporary art fair, and hosts a concentration of museums per capita exceeded by few cities in Europe.
