Standing beside the Rhine in a park on the eastern edge of Basel, this museum celebrates the sculptor Jean Tinguely, known for his kinetic machines built from scrap metal, wheels and motors. Designed by Mario Botta in banded stone, its galleries let visitors set the works in clattering motion by pressing pedals and buttons. Larger installations fill dedicated halls, and an outdoor fountain of moving figures animates a nearby square. The collection also covers his collaborations with Niki de Saint Phalle.
