The Beijing Concert Hall is a dedicated home for symphonic and chamber music in the city centre, seating roughly 1,000 in an acoustically tuned auditorium. Rebuilt in its modern form in the 1980s on the site of an earlier cinema and hall, it became one of the first venues in the capital designed specifically for orchestral performance. It hosts resident and visiting orchestras, recitals and traditional Chinese instrumental concerts. Programmes range from full symphonic evenings to solo piano and traditional-instrument recitals.
