A historic cultural street in the southern old city long associated with the trade in books, antiques, calligraphy, and painting supplies. Its name recalls a former imperial kiln that once produced glazed tiles here. From the Qing dynasty the lane became a gathering place for scholars and collectors, and it retains rows of grey-brick shops rebuilt in traditional style. Stores still sell brushes, ink stones, seals, rubbings, and old books. The quiet, low-rise character gives it a scholarly atmosphere distinct from busier districts.
