Akademietheater

This theatre serves as the smaller second stage of Vienna's Burgtheater, occupying part of a building near the Konzerthaus completed in the early twentieth century. Its more intimate scale suits contemporary drama and chamber productions that complement the grander works staged at the main house. The auditorium is modern in feel compared with the imperial-era Burgtheater on the Ring. As part of Austria's most prestigious drama institution, it plays an important role in the German-language theatre world with new plays and studio productions.
