The Quan Am Pagoda in the Cho Lon district of Ho Chi Minh City is one of the oldest and most ornate Chinese temples in the city, founded by immigrants from Fujian in the early nineteenth century. Dedicated to Guanyin, the bodhisattva of compassion, it is renowned for the intricate porcelain figures adorning its roof ridges and the gilded woodwork within. Coils of incense hang from the ceiling of the front hall, filling the space with fragrant smoke as worshippers make offerings.
