The Federal Territory Mosque, or Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan, is one of Kuala Lumpur's grandest mosques, opened in 2000 on a hilltop north of the city centre. Its design blends Ottoman and Malay influences, dominated by a large main dome surrounded by twenty-one smaller domes and four minarets. The prayer hall is decorated with elaborate calligraphy, chandeliers and a tiled mihrab, and can hold around seventeen thousand worshippers. Well maintained and welcoming to visitors, it is among the capital's most admired mosques.
