Set in Parque Forestal along the Mapocho River in Santiago, this ornate fountain was a gift from the German community to mark the centenary of Chilean independence in 1910, though completed a few years later. Sculpted figures representing the fatherland, progress and the nation surround a central basin from which water cascades over bronze and stone allegories. Restored after years of neglect and damage during protests, it sits amid one of the capital's most popular riverside parks on the walk between the center and Bellavista.
