Located in a quiet corner of the Tiergarten near the Reichstag, this memorial honours the hundreds of thousands of Sinti and Roma murdered during the Nazi genocide. Opened in 2012 and designed by Dani Karavan, it centres on a circular reflecting pool of dark water. Each day a fresh flower is placed on a retractable stone triangle that rises from the water, echoing the badges prisoners were forced to wear. The rim is inscribed with a poem, and a mournful melody plays softly.
