This entertainment building near Friedrichstraße station in central Berlin opened in the early twentieth century, originally combining an ice rink, baths and a variety stage. It became a prominent revue and cabaret venue during the interwar years and survived the war largely intact, a rarity in the bombed city centre. After decades of varied use it was restored as a theatre presenting musicals, concerts and comedy. Its marble-clad façade and ornate interior recall the pleasure palaces of imperial Berlin, amid the theatres of the Mitte district.
