Housed in the former terminal building of the old San José airport at the edge of La Sabana park, this museum presents Costa Rican art from the late nineteenth century to the present. Its collection includes painting, sculpture, and graphic work documenting the country's artistic development and national landscape. A notable feature is the Golden Room, whose walls carry a sculpted stucco frieze depicting Costa Rican history. The site combines art, architecture, and a sculpture garden.
