The Correos de Costa Rica headquarters is a handsome eclectic building completed in 1917 in central San Jose. Its ornate stone facade, arched windows and decorative details reflect the prosperity of the early coffee era. Still the country's main post office, it also contains a small philatelic museum tracing the history of Costa Rican stamps and mail. A cafe on the upper floor and the plaza before it make the building a pleasant stop in the historic core.
