This enclosed butterfly garden near the national zoo in Barrio Amon lets visitors walk among hundreds of free-flying tropical butterflies. Netted flight houses filled with nectar plants shelter dozens of native species, and guided paths explain the life cycle from egg to chrysalis to adult. Hummingbirds and other wildlife share the lush setting. A quiet green attraction within the capital, it offers a compact introduction to the biodiversity for which Costa Rica is renowned.
