The Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions occupies a restored Ottoman palace within the historic Casbah of Algiers, a UNESCO-listed quarter of narrow lanes and whitewashed houses. Its galleries display Algerian folk crafts, including ceramics, embroidery, jewellery, copperwork and traditional costume. The building's carved cedar, glazed tiles and interior courtyard exemplify the domestic architecture of the old city. Exhibits illustrate craft techniques and regional variations across the country.
