The Ethnological Museum in Addis Ababa occupies a former palace of Emperor Haile Selassie within the grounds of the national university. Its displays combine the emperor's preserved private apartments with rich ethnographic galleries covering the life cycle, beliefs and material culture of Ethiopia's diverse peoples. Rooms present textiles, jewellery, weapons, musical instruments and religious icons alongside painted processional crosses. The restored bedroom and bathroom of the imperial couple add a historical dimension.
