A museum of contemporary art occupying a glass-and-steel pavilion originally built for a world's fair. Designed by Karl Schwanzer, the modernist structure was later relocated and adapted as an exhibition space for the Belvedere collections. It presents Austrian and international art of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries through changing exhibitions and installations. The open, light-filled hall suits large sculptures and multimedia works. As a counterpart to the historic Belvedere palaces, it extends the institution into the present.
