Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas

A national museum of decorative arts near the Retiro park, tracing the history of Spanish domestic craftsmanship. Its rooms display furniture, ceramics, glass, textiles, leather and metalwork arranged to show changing tastes across the centuries. A celebrated eighteenth-century tiled Valencian kitchen, reconstructed on an upper floor, is among its most admired installations. Period interiors evoke the homes of different eras, emphasising applied arts over fine art alone.
