This neoclassical fountain sits at the heart of Plaza de Cibeles, one of Madrid's most photographed intersections, framed by grand landmarks such as the ornate Cybele Palace. Designed in the late eighteenth century under Charles III, it depicts the Roman goddess Cybele riding a chariot drawn by two lions. Visitors gather here at all hours to admire the marble sculpture and the surrounding avenues that radiate outward. The fountain has also become the traditional gathering point where Real Madrid supporters celebrate their team's victories.
