The seat of New Zealand's legislature occupies a cluster of buildings at the northern end of Lambton Quay, dominated by the round modernist executive wing known as the Beehive. Alongside it stand the neoclassical Parliament House and the Gothic Revival Parliamentary Library, mixing several eras. Visitors can join free guided tours that explain the political system, view the debating chamber, and inspect the base-isolation engineering that protects the complex from earthquakes. The surrounding grounds are open to the public.
