This beach on the shore of the Timor Sea, close to central Darwin, is best known for the seasonal sunset market held on its foreshore during the dry season. The market gathers food stalls representing the many cultures of the Top End alongside crafts and live performance, with crowds settling on the sand to watch the sun drop into the sea. Backed by casuarina trees and parkland, the beach itself is not generally used for swimming because of marine hazards, but its westward outlook makes it a celebrated spot for sunsets.
