This redeveloped precinct on the edge of central Darwin transformed the old wharf area into a public leisure and dining destination. Because tropical waters here carry stingers and crocodiles, the precinct includes a netted saltwater lagoon and a wave pool where visitors can swim safely. Promenades, restaurants and event lawns line the harbour, and a pedestrian bridge and lift connect the area to the city above. Historic wharves and wartime oil-storage tunnels nearby recall Darwin's role in the Second World War.
