Australia's national science and technology centre sits beside Lake Burley Griffin on the Parliamentary Triangle. Opened in 1988, it fills several galleries with hands-on exhibits that let visitors trigger lightning, ride a free-fall slide and explore physics, weather and the human body through play. The distinctive drum-shaped building and its sweeping ramps were designed to make science approachable for families and school groups. Rotating displays and live demonstrations keep the content fresh for repeat visitors.
