The former central railway station of Asunción recalls the era when Paraguay operated one of South America's earliest railways, linking the capital to the interior. The nineteenth-century building, with its arcaded platform and period offices, now serves as a railway museum preserving vintage locomotives and carriages. Though regular services have long ceased, the site documents the history of steam transport in the country. Its wood-and-iron structure stands as a nostalgic monument in the heart of the old city.
