Created in 1967 for a visit by the Japanese crown prince, this landscaped garden in Palermo is among the largest of its kind outside Japan. Curved bridges cross koi ponds fringed by azaleas, maples and carefully pruned pines, while a teahouse, cultural centre and plant nursery occupy the grounds. The design follows traditional principles of balance and framed views, offering a contemplative retreat within the city parks. Seasonal festivals introduce visitors to Japanese arts, cuisine and horticulture.
