Housed in the Errázuriz Alvear Palace, a Beaux-Arts mansion completed in 1917 by French architect René Sergent, this museum preserves the decorative arts collection of a wealthy Buenos Aires family. Rooms retain their original panelling, tapestries and Regency and Rococo furnishings, displaying silver, porcelain, sculpture and Old Master paintings. The building is itself the principal exhibit, showing how the Argentine elite of the Belle Époque lived. A garden courtyard and rotating exhibitions round out a visit.
