At the quieter northern end of Copacabana lies Leme, a small beach backed by a forested granite hill of the same name. A seafront promenade curves to the base of the rock, where a paved path known as the Caminho dos Pescadores leads around the cliffs to a fishing platform and a small fort. The walk offers close views of nesting seabirds and open ocean, with fishermen casting from the rocks. Calmer than its famous neighbour, Leme is favoured by residents for early swims and shaded strolls beneath the hill.
