This ornate Art Nouveau mansion on Cerro Alegre was built in 1916 for a European family and later acquired by the Croatian nitrate magnate Pascual Baburizza, whose art collection it now houses as Valparaíso's municipal fine arts museum. Its curving eaves, stained glass and decorative ironwork exemplify the eclectic taste of the port's immigrant elite. Galleries display European and Chilean paintings, including maritime scenes. Set beside the Paseo Yugoslavo, the palace overlooks the bay from the heritage quarter.
