Just off the Plaza Mayor, the Casa de Aliaga is a colonial mansion granted to conquistador Jerónimo de Aliaga in 1535 and continuously inhabited by his descendants ever since, making it one of the oldest family homes in the Americas. Its rooms display period furniture, gilded mirrors, colonial paintings and an ornate Sevillian-tiled patio. The grand golden salon and carved wooden ceilings reflect centuries of accumulated Limeño taste. Guided visits reveal how a single lineage preserved a viceregal residence through earthquakes.
