This Anglican cathedral beside Woodford Square was consecrated in 1823 and is notable for its Gothic Revival hammer-beam roof, modelled on Westminster Hall in London and unusual in the tropics. Built of local stone, it holds memorial tablets to early colonial figures and stained glass shipped from England. The tower and pinnacles rise above the surrounding commercial streets. As the mother church of the Anglican diocese it remains an active place of worship at the civic centre of the capital.
