Housed inside the hilltop castle in the heart of Mexico City's largest park, this museum traces the nation's story from the Spanish conquest through the Revolution. Its galleries display period furnishings, carriages, weapons, banners and portraits, while ceiling murals by Orozco, O'Gorman and Siqueiros dramatize episodes of independence and reform. Rooms preserved as the imperial residence of Maximilian and Carlota show nineteenth-century court life, and the terraces reward visitors with views over the Paseo de la Reforma.
