Government House in Winnipeg is the official residence of the lieutenant governor of Manitoba, a Victorian mansion built in the 1880s on the grounds of the Legislative Building. Its formal reception rooms, restored to their historic appearance, host ceremonial and state functions of the province. The house has welcomed royalty, heads of state and dignitaries over more than a century. Its gardens and heritage interiors reflect the vice-regal traditions of the Crown in the prairie province.
