Exchange District

The Exchange District is a national historic district in downtown Winnipeg preserving one of North America's finest concentrations of early twentieth-century warehouse and commercial architecture. Built during the wheat-boom era when the city was a booming rail hub, its terracotta and brick blocks now house galleries, theatres, cafés and design studios. The district's intact streetscapes have made it a frequent film location standing in for older American cities. Old Market Square at its centre hosts festivals and markets throughout the year.
