The Ontario Legislative Building stands at the head of University Avenue in Toronto's Queen's Park, a massive Romanesque Revival structure of rose-hued sandstone completed in 1893. Its long symmetrical façade, round-arched entrance and richly carved interior house the provincial parliament and its chamber. The surrounding park, encircled by a crescent road, is dotted with monuments to monarchs and premiers. Locals often refer to the whole precinct simply as Queen's Park, shorthand for the seat of Ontario's government.
