This Denver museum pairs the paintings of Colorado artist Vance Kirkland with a dense, salon-style display of decorative arts spanning Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and mid-century modern design. Objects are arranged in period vignettes rather than behind glass, so furniture, ceramics, and lamps sit together as they might in a home. The collection moved in 2018 to a purpose-built structure clad in yellow terracotta tubes. Kirkland's preserved studio, where he painted while suspended on straps, is a highlight of guided visits.
