The silver-painted Clock Tower stands at the central crossroads of Victoria, the diminutive capital of Seychelles on the island of Mahé. Erected in 1903 to mark the colony's separation from Mauritius, it is a scaled replica of a clock tower near Vauxhall Bridge in London. Locally nicknamed Lorloz, it has become the recognised symbol of the city and a favourite meeting point. Surrounded by low colonial-era shopfronts and the daily flow of one of the world's smallest capitals, the little tower anchors Victoria's walkable centre.
