This bronze statue near Addis Ababa's main railway station depicts the Lion of Judah, the ancient symbol of the Ethiopian monarchy and the Solomonic dynasty. Cast in 1930 to mark Haile Selassie's coronation, it was seized and taken to Rome during the Italian occupation, then returned decades later. Set atop a stone plinth, the crowned lion holds a processional cross and staff. The monument stands as an enduring emblem of Ethiopian sovereignty and resistance to colonial rule.
