This art and environmental museum in southern Addis Ababa is celebrated as much for its architecture as its collections. Built using traditional mud, straw and wood techniques, its sculpted organic buildings blur the line between structure and artwork. The grounds contain galleries, an amphitheatre, gardens, a school and small farm plots demonstrating sustainable design. Founded by artist Elias Sime and curator Meskerem Assegued, the museum has become a distinctive showcase of contemporary Ethiopian art and ecological building.
