The Palais de la Nation in Kinshasa is the official seat of the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, set on the banks of the Congo River. Built in the late colonial period as the governor-general's residence, it later became the heart of the independent state's executive power. Its formal architecture and riverside grounds have witnessed key moments of the country's history since 1960. Now serving the presidency, it is one of the most significant government landmarks in the capital, though closed to the public.
