This late fifteenth-century funerary complex in the northern cemetery is widely regarded as a masterpiece of Mamluk architecture. Its carved stone dome and slender minaret display some of the most sophisticated geometric and floral ornament produced in medieval Cairo. Inside, the mosque and mausoleum preserve inlaid marble floors, colored glass and a finely worked minbar. The building's balanced proportions and refined detail have long made it an emblem of the late Mamluk age.
