This large mosque near Gençlik Park in central Ankara was completed in the 2010s in a classical Ottoman idiom, with a central dome flanked by half-domes and framed by twin minarets. Named after a medieval noblewoman, it seats several thousand worshippers within a richly decorated hall of calligraphy and chandeliers. A forecourt and fountain precede the entrance, giving the complex a monumental presence along a busy boulevard. As one of the newer great mosques of the capital, it continues the modern revival of imperial architectural forms.
