A distinctive mosque facing the old citadel across a pool in Bukhara, known for the tall, slender painted columns of its wooden portico. Built in the early eighteenth century as the emir's Friday mosque, its reflection in the adjoining hauz gives it a much-photographed setting. The interior is decorated with painted floral patterns and fine plasterwork. It stands as one of the best-preserved examples of the covered-porch mosque style characteristic of the region.
