Sanggar Agung, also called Hong San Tang, is a large Chinese temple on the northern coast of Surabaya, celebrated for a towering statue of the goddess of mercy flanked by attendants that rises against the backdrop of the sea. The waterfront setting, with dragon carvings and ornate roofs reflected in coastal pools, makes it one of the city's most photographed religious sites. Worshippers of Buddhist, Confucian and Taoist traditions come to burn incense and make offerings.
