This temple in the heart of the capital is home to one of the largest bronze Buddha images in the country, from which it takes its name, and serves as an important centre of Buddhist study and monastic training. Founded in the sixteenth century, destroyed in later conflicts and rebuilt, it houses a monastic school where monks from across the region come to learn. The ornate main hall, with its carved wooden facade, tiered roof and gilded detailing, sits among prayer halls and living quarters full of activity.
