Vidhan Bhawan, Lucknow

This grand sandstone building houses the legislative assembly of Uttar Pradesh and is one of the finest examples of Indo-European civic architecture in Lucknow. Completed in the 1920s, it combines Rajput, Mughal and European elements across a long facade of domes, jharokhas and carved balconies. A central dome crowns the debating chamber, and ornate galleries line the interior. Floodlit in the evening, the building is a centrepiece of the city's administrative district and a symbol of Awadh's blended architectural heritage.
