This modest two-storey house in the Gamdevi area served as Mahatma Gandhi's Mumbai base for many years during the freedom struggle. Now a memorial and museum, it preserves the room where he stayed, along with photographs, letters and dioramas tracing his life and campaigns. Visitors climb wooden stairs to see his spinning wheel and a library of Gandhian literature. The quiet, tree-lined lane and the building's simple restored interiors give a vivid sense of the era in which key decisions of the independence movement were taken here.
